Clinical Aide

 

Job Description:

The QHC Regional Paediatric Services Consulting Group seeks a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Clinical Aide. This position offers a permanent part-time opportunity from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various clinical and clerical tasks within our organization. This position offers an hourly starting rate of $20/hour.

 

Direct Duties:

  • Liaise with patients and families

  • Bring patients and families from the waiting room to the exam room

  • Perform patient vital signs assessments for  children aged newborn to adolescent. (Including patient height, weight, head circumference and blood pressure)

  • Schedule appointments

  • Perform necessary laboratory labelling and disposition

  • Communicate with physicians regarding requests, patient flow and patient concerns

  • Ensure supplies are fully stocked, as well checking for expired samples and products

  • Check medical supplies and identify needed supplies to the Office Manager

  • Communicate with referring Physician’s offices as required

  • Communicate results with patients’ families as required

  • Ensure the appropriate chart/documentation is performed

 

Clerical Duties:

  • Assist Administration with SRFax, incoming phone calls and patient chart scanning

  • Assist Clerical staff in the day-to-day operation of the office

  • Assist in covering front reception in times of clerical absence/staff shortage

 

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary diploma or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in a similar role and environment

  • Must have a valid First Aid Certificate

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping

 

Assets:

  • Experience with neonatal and paediatric assessments, including vital signs

  • Successful completion of an approved Health Care Aide Program 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to be flexible working in a busy, fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as required

  • Experience with an Electronic Medical Records software, preferably OSCAR

  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C
